... in a skein of geese
The weather here for the last couple of weeks has been dreich (low grey skies and rain) so imagine my surprise when I woke up on Christmas morning to see my garden covered in sparkling frost and a clear sky just turning light.
I still had lots to do as my children and grandchildren were coming for lunch but I just couldn’t resist the urge to wrap up , pull on my wellies, get the puppy and go! We walked through the woods, and came out onto the white field, the puppy going mad with excitement. Just as the first rays of sun came over the hills,a skein of geese flew over. Not exactly a choir of angels, but my heart was filled with joy and gratitude for the birth of Christ and all the blessings we receive.
I threw my head back, and with a voice not too dissimilar to that of the geese honking, I sang Gloria in Excelsis Deo as loudly as I could.
