...in a casual question
Often God reveals Himself by way of omission. What I mean is that God often comes to the foreground of my mind when something or someone else appears to be pushing him into the background.
This morning I heard this question on the radio: 'Who do you most credit with the good things about you?' In the pause that followed, I instantly thought 'God.' The presenter continued: 'Your parents? Your genes? Or yourself?' I smiled. Your parents, your genes, yourself. Presented as three distinct answers. To me it sounded like three variants on the same theme: you. This lack of mention of God, of an Other we depend on, paradoxically made Him all the more present to me, enabling me to start the day giving credit where credit is due.
