Christian Yoga - Praying with your Body
The word "Yoga" itself is about communion and connection and has the same origins as "yoke" as used by Jesus in Matthew 11 when he says He says “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
These days many people come to yoga for exactly this reason, they feel weary and burdened and are seeking rest for their souls. It makes sense since yoga began as a physical preparation for prayer - a warm-up before taking a posture for prayer and meditation and a way of getting out of one's busy head to come before God and be still.
This workshop will include breathwork, an exploration of physical representation of Christian prayer and scripture, a strong energetic yoga practice and a final Ignatian Contemplation exercise on the Gospel. Bring water, bring a mat (and any other yoga props you usually use) and wear comfortable clothes you can move and stretch in. Namaste!
